Soup
Kitchen Program
Top
Purpose
of the project: to deliver hot meal to needy people (invalids, elderly,
multichild families, IDP-s, families without supporter and rest needy
people). Beneficiaries receive their meal in Soup Kitchens. So selling
of this meal and any other changes of this course are avoided. This
ordinary food which is in this kind of Soup Kitchens attracts the most
needy people. Except this SKs
help to decrease the expanses of the needy people and physical work
which is needed for getting the meal. It is especially difficult to
prepare the hot meal at home in winter when there is power deficit and
high prices of kerosene, which doesn’t give any opportunity for the
needy people to prepare their hot meal in winter. They avoid isolated
and desperate way of life by everyday attendance of the SK, they make
contacts with each other, which is especially valuable for those who
live alone. Church network and “Lazarus” experience helped to carry
out the successful work of SK program.
The purpose of the project is capacity-building of “Lazarus”
and its help to needy people in Georgia.
From
January 1995 till January 2000 the project has been implementing by the
help of different donors in different regions of Georgia.
